According to the Iran Oral History Site, “Memory Night” Special Program for the Holy Defense was held in the evening of 26 September 2018 in the Imam Khomeini Husseinieh. Office of Information for the Preservation and Publication of the Works of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei reported that along with the Holy Defense Week and on the onset of Abadan freedom a group of commanders, veterans and soldiers and artists met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Breaking the siege in 9 hours

The city was in siege for one year. It was not a living thing, but did not tolerate captivity like living creatures. The breath of Abadan had almost stopped over the coming of Saddam army forces. They were unhappy of putting their feet on the ground; this unhappiness started on 11th of October 1980 when Abadan was on the verge of captivity. There are written resources about that time one of which is Pares News Agency (current IRNA).
