‘A Day-by-Day Account of June 5 Uprising’ published

IBNA- The three-volume book, ‘A Day-by-Day Account of June 5 Uprising’ in Qom which describes the struggle of clerics and people against the former Iranian monarchial regime in 1961-1964 was published.

According to IBNA correspondent, this book which has been printed by Soureh Mehr Publication, portrays the background and aftermaths of this rebellion based on historical documents including written documents, journals and oral memories.
On June 5, 1963 the regime of Mohammad Reza Shah, the second Pahlavi King could crack down on demonstrators in the religious city of Qom whom had been prompted by a sermon delivered by Ayatollah Rouollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, against the regime, the United States and Israel.
The state police and army could take the control of the city. However, people were able to break down the barrier of fear of military forces. The sermon and street demonstrations led to the arrest of Imam Khomeini.
