صفحه نخست شماره 10

Mahmoud Fazeli Birjandi, editor of the book "Poland and Iran" said "This is for the first time that these articles are being published and they are of particular value for Iranian researchers, especially those who do research on the history of Iran during the Safavid period, because Polish ambassadors first came to Iran during the Safavid period."

IBNA: Mahmoud Fazeli Birjandi stated that he has been in charge of editing this volume. According to him, the Iran-Poland relationship has a history of many centuries and this book is being published in Iran pursued by the embassy of Poland in Iran.

He said: "They provided the material and they resulted in a volume relating of the history of the two countries'' relations. This book particularly deals with the presence of the Polish in Iran during World War II when the exiled polish are brought into Iran and then moved to other countries through Iran."
Fazeli Birjandi remarked that during this process some of the Polish people stayed in Iran and began working and left side effects on the culture and life of Iranians. One of the most public forms of it is the propagation of a kind of chair which is still called the ''Polish Chair'' by Iranians.

He continued: "Some of the exiled were skillful cooks and naturally they influenced the Iranian taste and food. Anyway they settled down in Iran and died here and were buried in a cemetery especially made for the Polish. This book provides useful information about the history of Iran-Poland relations and the exiled Polish in Iran."

He added: "This is a bilingual volume (Persian – English) prepared by the embassy of Poland and published by Ketabsara Publications. There is also a map attached to the volume that includes brief and useful information, showing the stance of the Polish in Iran during the 17th, 18th, 19th (Qajar period), and the beginning of the 20th century (before WWI) and then it deals with the process of Polish migration through Iran.

The book "Poland and Iran" begins with a foreword by the current Polish ambassador in Iran where he discusses major topics in Iran-Poland relations and refers to the WWII event.
Among the articles in this volume are: "Iran-Poland Relations during the Safavid Period", "A Survey of Persian Manuscripts in Poland", "The Role of the Academies in Fortifying Iran-Poland Relations", and "The Polish in Iran during World War II".

In the latter article, Nickpour has made a survey of the inception of World War II, German invasion to the territories of Poland, forced migration of more than one million Polish people to exile, entrance of a number of them to Iran before war and the kinds of job they occupied in Iran. He further refers to prominent Polish figures that lived in exile.
The last part is about the achievements of Polish archaeologists in Iran.

The book "Poland and Iran" is published in 116 pages and 1500 copies by Ketabsara Publications.
