Book City bestsellers: 'Why Leaders Lie', 'Mandela’s Autobiography'

Political books have been selling long like hot cakes at the Book City stores around Tehran unlike the norm that fiction and psychology works attract readers.

IBNA: Reports from the Book City Institute indicate that 'Why Leaders Lie: The Truth about Lying in International Politics' by John J.‭‬ Mearsheimer and Nelson Mandela’s autobiography are two of the bestsellers in the institute’s shops.

Mearsheimer’s work sheds light on the dark side of politics by focusing on the lies, all world leaders tell their people to be successful in their manipulative policies.

The book defines lies as being an indispensable part of politics and considers it a necessity of the field. The work is rendered into Persian by Arash Farzad and Mohammad Heidari in 280 pages by Farzan-e Rooz.    

The other bestseller of the institute is Mandela’s autobiography. The book is a collection of writings, interviews and personal speeches by the South African politician about his campaign years, hidden life and prison.

The book is in fact a window to recognition of Mandela’s profound personality based on historical evidences.

Arranged in 560 pages, the book’s Persian rendition is provided by Alireza Jabari and is published in Iran by Ghatreh Publishing Institute.
