IBNA- Today, May 25, 2015 marks the death anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. The name of this prominent politician is linked with the book ‘Glimpses of the World History’ in Iran. According to IBNA correspondent, Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India after independence on August 15, 1947. Prior to his assignment to this post, he had spent close to 10 years of his life in the British colonial prisons on an irregular basis. On Nehru’s death anniversary, we were looking for a book to honor the memory of this great freedom activist and politician. Therefore, we flicked through some pages of the book ‘Glimpses of the World History’. Browsing through the lines about Iran in detail from an eastern politician’s view is so engaging for all Iranians. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is also attentive to this book and recommends it for studying. In fact this work was written by a politician who fought for the freedom of the third world countries for years, a man who looks at his historical neighbor with a grateful eye and enjoys the culture of that country. Rejecting domination, by the third world nations During the 1930s, Nehru was imprisoned on charges of political activism and opposition to the domination of India by the government of the Great Britain and the Karara Government. Also during World War II, he was imprisoned because of India’s opposition to cooperate and assist in the war between the British and the Axis powers, under the pretext that India should gain independence immediately after the war.
