Minister stresses a professional look into culture

 |
IBNA- At the opening ceremony of unveiling the book ‘The artistic treasures of Pasargad Bank’, Iran’s Culture Minister Ali Jannati said that in his opinion, the art and culture of Iran today is mostly suffering from two major obstacles.
According to IBNA correspondent quoting from the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Culture, Jannati stated: “The first problem is that the authorities in the realm of art and culture do not have a professional approach to this field, and everybody, familiar or not, allows himself to comment on the most specialized issues of art and culture and even have a claim on its management.” The Minister added: “The field of art and culture is a specialized area which must be managed by its own people. Our society must have a clear stance with regard to art and culture and should distinguish its special status. No doubt the creators of different fields of art in different artistic areas are the children of this nation and recognize the limits of religion and custom at work.” He said that the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance carefully monitors this area. So, excessive worries and protests against some works are just offensive.” He further expressed: “Confronting art and artist with religion is futile and immoral. Looking at this issue carefully, the artist, as a creator, is in close relation with the spiritual power ruling the world and has a better understanding of religion in relation with the origin and the creator of the world.” In recent years the Iranian Pasargad Bank has contributed to producing artworks particularly feature films, an approach which has proved to be so successful.
