Ex-soccer defender to pen memories of Iran-Australia game

Former Iranian defender Ali Asghar Ostad Asadi has said he is collecting his memories of Iran’s accession to the 1998 World Cup by drawing with Australia. IBNA: Speaking with IBNA, Ostad Asadi praised Iran’s rise to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil by smashing South Korea, and said the accession took me to the France 1998 cup when he was Iran’s defender.


Iranian soccer coach to write memories

Former coach of Iran national under-23 football team has said he is planning to write his memoir in English. IBNA: Speaking with IBNA, Houman Afazeli, former soccer player and a current coach, said he is writing his memoir of coaching Iran’s U-23 team in English. He said the book will be an educational book for soccer lovers and coaches. He asserted that one of the best ways for coaches to upgrade their expertise in football is having access to and reading through translations of articles about football.


Foreign versions of 'Atlas of Iran-Iraq War' to be released

Manger of the Military Geography Group of the Sacred Defense Research and Document Center said that the 'Atlas of Iran-Iraq War' will be published in English, Arabic, French and Russian. IBNA: According to the public relations office of the center, Nader Zarezadeh said that the book will be released by the end of summer. As he said, the translations are provided due to the large number of inquiries for the translation of the book into other languages

Authors Jon Wiederhorn and Katherine Turman will be doing press at the event, moderated by comedian Don Jamieson of VH1 Classic’s THAT METAL SHOW! It will also feature an appearance by rock photographer STEPHANIE CABRAL. LOUDER THAN HELL is already being used as an official source even before the book release. This book is being recognized as a credible, definitive guide to the history of heavy metal. As published in the New York Times on May 3, the paper of Record referred to the new book “Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Metal” to gain further insight into their story.

Oral History Weekly Magazine wishes to create a suitable place for thoughts and idea development; Its main field would be “Oral History” and subjects as telling & writing memoirs, writing diaries, travelogues, chronologies, and all other subfields of history which are presented in the form of news, articles, reports, notes, interviews and memoirs can be included. There is no limitation on the length of would-be-sent materials.
Mentioning the name, academic background and email is necessary. Articles with complete references and bibliography are more credited and an abstract would quite helpful.
Weekly is not about to publish any material consisting insults and libels about other people or anything that brings anxiety to public opinion. Weekly can edit and translate the received materials.

The 4th Meeting of the Authorities of the Offices of Resistance Studies and Culture of the Art Bureau in Iran’s 31 provinces will be held in the city of Zanjan from 8th to 10th of Shahrivar 1392 solar hijri (August 30 to September 1, 2013). The subject of the meeting is the compilation of oral history and memories. Mohsen Kazemi, Saeed Alamian and Mohammad Qassemi are supposed to deliver speeches in the meeting.

Transferring to Evin Prison

After 8 months of up and downs I had almost lost my temper. I was getting crazy in solitary confinement. To get free of such conditions I decided to go on a hunger strike. The next day I did it. The prison guards noticed my refusal for eating and they reported the matter to SAVAK. It was about 10 at night that they came to my cell and asked my reason. I told them that I was on a hunger strike and I would not eat anything till they clear what they want to do with me. They began threatening me. I told them: “It has been 8 months that you have done to me whatever you wanted to. I have been here without being trialed. I am fed up. I cannot tolerate any more. Do what the hell you want. You want to kill me …! Do it…! I’d be happy and prefer death to this living…”
SAVAK agents could not get any result and went back. The next day Saghi came and with rich Turkic accent said: “Ahmad! You are disturbing everything here again! Have you forgotten the beatings and slashes?!” I told him: “Mr. Saghi, This time I wanna die, I don’t want to live any more. I’m fed up with everything and have reached to the end…” Saghi talked for some moments and at last threatened me to break my hunger strike;
